New profile created in XP as <username>.<computer name> after upgrading hard drive.
My user profiles had been relocated to my secondary IDE drive some time ago (successfully. While upgrading my primary IDE hard drive to larger capacity, I temporarily removed this 2nd drive (containing the profiles) to mount the replacement drive. I copied over all from the old to new drive, removed the new drive, replaced the original boot drive with the new one, and probably tried booting once before putting back the secondary IDE drive. Now, it appears that my user settings are being stored in "c:\documents and settings\username.computername" instead of where they used to be. I copied over my NTUSER.DAT into this new place, and painfully updated registry keys which used to say "V:\xpuserprofiles\..." (the secondary drive path) to the new one... but things still aren't 100% right. Is there a way to get rid of the ".<computer name>" part of this path? What happened?1 person needs an answerI do too
